The Story
A vividly coloured countryside scene — a lake beneath rolling hills and a pink evening sky — had suffered a dense scatter of small paint losses, bright white flecks that broke up the colour across the sky, hills, and trees.
Each loss was filled individually and inpainted strictly within its own boundary, matching the surrounding colour under magnification so the retouching stays honestly confined to what was actually lost.
With the losses reintegrated, the landscape read as a whole again — its saturated colour and sense of light restored across the full composition.
- The Damage
- Widespread paint loss scattered across the surface — a snow of small white losses through the sky, hills, and foliage — had broken up the composition's colour and depth.
- The Process
- Consolidation of any lifting paint, followed by careful filling of the losses and restrained inpainting confined strictly within their boundaries, before an even re-saturation of the colour.
- The Outcome
- The scattered losses were reintegrated and the landscape's original colour returned — the pink sky, blue lake, and green hills reading as a continuous, unbroken scene again.
